2026 ECC Events

Many of our events are an end-result of the ECC Annual Service Auction, a Community fundraiser held (usually) the second Saturday of March, that provides scholarship money for education. Its mission is to assist in providing the opportunity of a Catholic high-school education for inner-city grade-school students. Our 2026 beneficiary school is Hudson Catholic High School, Jersey City, NJ.

This auction is also one of the major Community social events of the year, complete with a different theme each year--with music, decorations, and Community members in theme-related costume adding to the wonderful energy and spirit of the event. Community members get to know one another better throughout the year by selling and buying of services from one another (examples: Hosting a dinner party, baby-sitting, or leading a day hike in a state park).

Our 2026 Annual Auction raised funds for student tuitions at Hudson Catholic High School, Jersey City, NJ.

Below are some pictures from our biggest event of the year,
which had a theme of “Out Of This World.”

One of our Service Auction items included a trip to the newly rebuilt Princeton University Art Museum.

Our docent guided us through ‘Highlights of the Collection’ followed by a delicious lunch. A lovely way to explore this New Jersey gem.

The Green Faith Ministry and other Emmaus Community members worked in tandem with Trailside Nature and Science Center staff to spruce up their Backyard Wildlife Area last Saturday. Volunteers and staff conquered rocky, clay soil to plant around 40 native perennials plants and shrubs, add compost, spread mulch and weed invasive plants.

Additionally, the GFM donated a squirrel proof bird feeder for the site. Afterwards we shared a well-deserved pizza lunch!

Director, Patty Bertsch, explained to the group that the site is an important "outdoor exhibit", and teaching tool for many visitors and school groups that come to the Center. The area attracts many birds, butterflies and other wildlife and can be seen from inside the lower level of the Center. Many thanks to all who volunteered!
